MYTH BUSTER 101: PEANUT BUTTER 🥜
There seems to be very common misconception that peanut butter is a good source of protein.
When I ask a new client what their favourite protein sources are, peanut butter is almost always on the list!
Let’s take a look at a single serving (15g) of peanut butter for example.
- 90 Cal - 7g Fat (70%)
- 3g Carbs (13%)
- 4g Protein (17%)
As you can see, fat makes up 70% of the total caloric value in a single serving of natural peanut butter. While peanut butter is a great source of healthy fats, it is far from a 'good source of protein'.
Still, that does not mean you must avoid peanut butter at all costs. Like any source of protein, it should be consumed in healthy moderation as part of a balanced diet.
